The non-profit Independent Physicians Association of Nassau/Suffolk Counties today announced a purchase agreement to begin implementing member-providers on Greenway Medical Technologies’ integrated electronic health record (EHR), practice management and interoperability solution, PrimeSUITE®.

Established in April 2011, the IPA is a diverse and growing group of healthcare providers and lower-cost services currently totaling more than 200 members. The organization was formed to deliver high-quality care and value by establishing coordination through data exchange.

“We selected Greenway as a long-term partner and because PrimeSUITE’s range of integrated solutions suit the needs of our diverse membership,” said IPA Executive Director Michael Guarino. “We want to grow with a company that will be around for a long time, and Greenway has developed a strong track record of service since its founding over a decade ago. We have members currently without an EHR — or some with older systems or modules — so we know we have a lot of migration to do and will need strong service and support.”

Currently, the IPA includes primary care doctors, ENTs, cardiology, neurology and oncology specialists among others, as well as radiology facilities and the North Shore Surgical Center.

“Greenway’s templating and flexibility for EHR specialty use was also attractive to our selection committee,” stated John Franco, MD, President and Medical Director. “Our goals include membership in accountable care organizations, the receipt of meaningful use incentive funds for our members and, most importantly, quality patient care — all of which require an electronic health record that can share data to help coordinate care.”

Greenway® President and CEO Tee Green noted that, “We are very proud to be part of the foundation of the Nassau/Suffolk IPA, and its formation of a comprehensive community of health. Data liquidity and care coordination that connects doctors, not just data, is a smarter delivery approach that advances preventive care and outcomes. The Greenway team is committed to providing the resources for a successful partnership to help make that happen.”
